Getting StartedAll items in the Le Creuset stoneware range are original designs and have been hand-crafted, making each piece unique. Due to this uniqueness, there may be slight variations from piece to piece. Le Creuset Stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and broiler. The maximum oven-safe temperature is 500°F / 260°C. The enameled surface is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. The enamel is completely hygienic and will not absorb odors or flavors. Le Creuset Stoneware is extremely strong and durable, and resists staining, chipping and cracking. The handles, knobs and rims have been designed for a secure, easy-to-hold grip. |
Cleaning and careDo Not use any Stoneware piece on the stovetop or any other direct heat source. Oven : Maximum oven-safe temperature is 500°F / 260°C. Use oven mitts for lifting at all times. Broiler : When using under a broiler allow a gap of no less than 2 ½ inches between the rim of the dish and the heat source. Microwave : Handles may become hot during prolonged microwave use, especially if the handles are enclosed with plastic wrap. Cover just the open top of the dish, leaving the handles exposed. |
Cleaning and careFreezer-to-oven Use : Do not place a frozen dish of food in a preheated oven. Place the frozen dish in a cold oven and set the temperature, allowing the dish and oven to heat together. Before serving always check that the center of the food is completely and uniformly hot. Cleaning : Before the first use, wash the dish in hot, soapy water, and rinse and dry thoroughly. For most day-to-day cleaning, cool the dish for a few minutes before washing and drying, or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete. Never leave a dish fully immersed in water. For removal of stubborn residues allow the dish to cool, fill with warm, soapy water and allow it to soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Wash in the usual way using a plastic brush or scouring pad if necessary. |

Keeps my coffee fresh AND looks great on my countertop
If a coffee canister could be “perfect,” this is pretty close.We all have limited kitchen counter space, so usually only the most frequently used items are allowed a permanent spot there. The coffee machine, for example, definitely qualifies for a place (a morning without the java… let’s not go there). Now what about the container you use for storing coffee beans? That’s not the sort of thing you would normally leave on your counter; most of them are unsightly, and after all, you don’t need to refill your coffee machine every day. On the other hand, when you’ve finally rousted yourself from bed and stumbled into the kitchen only to find out that your coffee maker needs a refill, you want those beans nearby. (You aren’t storing those precious beans in a refrigerator, are you?)Enter this gorgeous coffee bean canister from Le Creuset. Why does this deserve a place on your counter?1) It’s the perfect size: large enough to hold beans for 3-4 refills of my Jura coffee machine, but not so large that it looks awkward or visually takes over the kitchen counter.2) The lid has a rubber seal on its underside which helps keeps your coffee beans fresh. A few people reviewing this product have said that their canister is not airtight, and some have speculated that this is because they are manufactured in several different countries. I don't know that I would call mine "hermetically sealed," but it's close (see the photo of the lid). I have to use both hands to remove the lid.3) It actually looks great -- distinguished, even -- on your countertop. The coffee bean design on the front identifies its contents in a subtle yet dignified way. This isn’t the type of canister you banish to a cabinet somewhere; this is one you can proudly display next to your coffee machine. I have the “cherry” version and I love its deep, rich hue. Trust me, it can hold its own visually with anything else on your countertop.Go ahead, get yourself one of these canisters and keep your coffee beans where they belong -- close at hand!
