Product Description

The Fahrenheat FUH Electric Heater offers an easy and effective way to provide lasting, comfortable warmth in even the most hard-to-heat areas. Suitable for indoor spaces as well as covered outdoor spaces, this heater mounts easily to the wall; it provides warmth in home spaces as well as commercial spaces. It works smart; the automatic control delays fan use until the heating element is warmed. For added safety and durability, when the heater is at maximum capacity or turned off, the fan continues to operate until the heating element is cooled. By preventing the circulation of cold air and preventing an output of an excessive amount of heat, your space stays comfortable longer. Fahrenheat is part of the Marley Engineered Products family, which provides a wide range of innovative, quality engineered, commercial, industrial, and residential electric comfort heaters and ventilation solutions. All our products are engineered with aesthetics, functionality, safety, and longevity in mind.

Heater w/mods
I went to the local box store to pick up one of these heaters due to a cold spell in the NE. Unfortunately, the 2 that I found were opened and I was unwilling to take a chance. I've been bitten before on returns here.So I grabbed one from AMZ and it was here in 2 days. Upon receiving I noticed the box bottom was taped up indicating that the heater must have fallen out of the bottom. On closer inspection, one of the corners had a dent but nothing to severe so I went ahead with the install. The heater is installed in a 25'x30' insulated garage. As always, I read the reviews and product descriptions before my purchase knowing what I would need for the install. I wanted to attach a cord to the heater and run it off a 24v Honeywell programmable thermostat I had as a spare. I already have a spare 220v plug that I use for a welder so this could be dual purpose and save me from wiring to the panel. I've seen reviews stating wire gauges of 8, 10, etc... Please be aware of what you need and if your unsure, consult an electrician first.Step 1: I mounted a square channel to the ceiling bridging the studs with (3) 5/16"x4 lag bolts. That way I could mount the heater to the channel with (2) 3/8"x1.5" bolts and stop nuts.Step 2: Was to wire up the 6' 10 gauge 2 wire+ground cord to the L1&L2 of the heater.Step 3: Was to mount a 4" square electrical box to the side of the heater for the Honeywell RT850T Solid State relay with built in 24v transformer. Wiring this up to a wiring diagram I found on the interweb. I bypassed the built in thermostat and wired the RT850T directly to the heater. It made no sense to go thru the original thermostat leaving it always on high. This also keeps the heaters fan powered for cool down as well.Step 4: Mount the heater's bracket to the square channel previously installed and then lift and mount the heater to the bracket.Step 5. Mount the thermostat to the wall and run 18/5 (R, RC, W needed) thermostat wire to the RT850T/Heater.Step 6: Next was to plug the heater in and the thermostat powered on. Set the temp, turn on heat and fan and instant heat. Now I haven't tested the heater as far as going from start temp to xTemp (on default 5000w) but the heat generated during testing was pretty decent. I will return and edit my review once I run some heat/time tests for my environment. I also want to clean up my wiring but left enough in case I need to move the heater around and thermostat.Update 2/6/2018:Starting on a 35F day and the garage was 45 degrees, after ~13 minutes my thermostat read 50 degrees. I have the thermostat near, to the side of the heater and another temp sensor on the opposite wall (read 49 degrees). So the heater in the default setting runs at ~5300 watts w/fan (fan only 40 watts). More testing will follow...Update 1/15/2019: Unrelated to the FUH54 unit, I had the Honeywell RT850 go bad after one season of use. I replaced the RT850T and now dropped the heater (moving blue wire) to the next step lower setting as the amps might have been to close to the relays max. Let's see if this lasts longer.Update 2/5/2019: Seems now after 1 season the heater cycles on and off now trying to heat garage. It cycles off and on like every 5 mins. The manual said the fan will do this when under 50 degrees. However the heater also cycles. Since I dont have thermostat, its bypassed, I believe it is the hi limit switch. Customer service gave me pn and I ordered from Carolpartsdotcom. Ill update when replaced.Update 2/4/2022: I did not replace the "hi limit switch" as that is for the heater getting too hot and shutting down with the light coming on. It would reset automatically 8-10 mins later if that happens.I just called Marley Tech Support and spoke to Dan (Thanks Dan for explaining) on why under 50F the unit cycles? The manual states this exact cycling so its not that its an issue, but I wanted to know why. He explained that the fan will sense cooler air running across and shutoff to allow heater coils to recover and then switch fan back on. It will continue to do this until unit stabilizes at 50F+. Well, now that makes sense to me now.My next step and update will be to quiet my fan down. I will unmount the heater this spring and see what I can do to quiet the motor or fan (soft mount, clean fan blades, etc...) and update this post.
