Essential tool for your electrical work box
If you work with electricity, especially house wiring, a non-contact voltage sensor is an essential for your workbox. It allows you to check if a wire is “hot” without having to touch the bare conductor. While its real purpose is to prevent you from electrocuting yourself, there are lots of uses for it. For example, it’s very convenient for identifying the “hot” wire in a junction box with several cables in it.There are lots of videos on the web that will show you how to safely use this type of tool. The Fluke version is a little pricey, but it has nice features, works extremely well, and is rugged enough to survive work use. I’ve had three of them at this point, mostly because they got lost, and I’ve been happy with all three of them. I’ve tried others and none of them have worked as well as the Fluke.
