We bought these to replace a different brand, one that had terrible suction cups and was supposed to retract but didn't. We were surprised that they are a fabric-like plastic, we got the impression that they were a rigid plastic. But they work great, and it works nicely that they can be folded up for storage in a seat pocket if you need to take them down. They block the sun nicely without blocking the driver's view more than is necessary - they are slightly see through. And the suction cups actually work, they aren't constantly dropping on my kids. : )
This sunscreen is just 2 pieces of plastic with holes and suction cups. Doesn't look pretty but acceptable. It basically does the job to block some sunlight. No damage to the screen after accidentally rolled down the window with it on. Be aware that they can NOT be used for rare window (at least in the case of my car) which I initially hoped for, since the instruction on the package said "don't put the suction cups onto window's heating wire", and there is no way you can miss the wire for all 4 cups (maybe one or two) for rare window. I also wish it can be few inches longer for the side windows.
Also I feel it's overpriced. Check babiesrus.com for the lower price if you can order online and go to the local store to pick (this way save you the shipping & handling fee). I actually keep the product although I could do free return to amazon. The price difference is few dollars (a big percentage though), and I don't think it was worth the hassle to make return and order & pick from babiesrus.
I bought this to keep the sun out, turns out that it has a lot more uses and the one that i love the most is that my son now uses it as a place to store his fav small toys that travels with him.
These certainly could be slightly more durable, but after reading tons of horrible reviews for other shades, we went with these because they were cheap and we were desperate. We used them on a month-long road trip cross-country -- travelling in temperatures up to 110 degrees -- and they never once fell off and offered great sun protection. No complaints, especially for the price.
The plastic screen portion of this product is so flimsy that it ripped a bit while I was attaching it to the window. After just one accidental opening of the window with this in place it was destroyed. I replaced this with Eddie Bauer Deluxe Roller Shade 2pk. Although the Eddie Bauer version is significantly more expensive, it has lasted for almost six months (with MANY accidental openings and closings of the window) as compared to less than a week.
Not sure how anyone can complain about these considering the low price. Yes they are not the best quality out there, but they are priced right for what you get. They work for me and I have no complaints whatsoever. I love the fact that it says baby on board and also that you get 2 of them. They are easy to affix to the window and mine has not fallen off since I placed it about a month ago.
I've tried several of the differnt styles of window shades out there, this one has worked the best by far. I've tried the suction cup kind with a pull down/retractable shade, the suctions cups, well...sucked! I've tried the kind that cling to the windows, but if you live in a colder climate, they don't cling very well. This shade has good suction cups that stay put and still allows visibility for your child. It's a two pack and I lined both of them up next to each other vertically to cover my larger mini-van window.
These shades are OK. I'm using them for the back windows of a Honda Fit and they aren't quite big enough to block out all of the light and the baby still gets occasional areas of sun. Also, because of where the suction cups are placed, the top of the shads fold over and let more sun in and it look ridiculous and cheap. At least they're staying on the windows though which is a plus (granted I'm in sunny CA and I could imagine having an issue in colder climates). And I like the "Baby on Board" feature. It also takes a little getting used to the fact that your back windows view is now partially blocked. Next time I may just go for the cling on type.
