is one of those practical and convenient devices worth having on a desktop when one wants simple and fast access to USB flash drives, USB Wi-Fi adapters and such, especially with a crowded desk. It has a 90° vertical port base connected directly to a sturdy 5-foot cable, and once plugged into a computer, allows for convenient placement on the desktop, and eliminates fumbling around when one needs fast access to a USB 2.0 port on the computer.
Likes:

This StarTech USB 2.0 extension dock is a good product with a lot of versatility for the user, and offers quite a bit of accessibility on the desktop or working surface when plugged into a computer. Its 60" cable eliminates crawling around under a desk in the dark while trying to locate a USB port on a computer, but if that's not long enough, you might add another USB extension in between, such as this

to extend its reach.
I found the female USB plug on the base to be a bit tight. Before using this unit, it helps to insert the male plug from the cord end and move it in and out a few times prior to using it with a USB flash drive, as some of those have fragile plugs.
It's a good product, and for my personal needs, it's not just a good moveable port for USB flash drives. It provides an excellent base for my

as an accessory work light on the desktop. Unlike other similar products, this one is weighted just enough to keep the light from getting too tipsy when plugged into the dock-style port, though sometimes a simple adjustment on the flexible neck of the light cures that problem. Having the 90° vertical port helps quite a bit.

works well as an extension dock in a variety of configurations, and not just as a desktop port for USB flash drives. For the price, it's an excellent deal. For what it offers in versatility and convenience, it's a solid 5-star product, and highly recommended.

Got my wireless adapter out from under the desk
I bought this USB extension cable to get my USB wireless adapter out from under my desk and up on a piece of furniture where it could get better reception. I also wanted it to stand the adapter up right and keep it in place. It has worked well for that purpose. The base is just heavy enough to stay in place up on top of a 4.75 foot tall dresser, although it could use just a touch more weight. If they had put rubber on the base it would also help it stay in place but if I had issues with that I’d just cut some electrical tape and stick it on the bottom. I took the suggestion of another review and used finger nail polish remover/acetone to remove the logo. I’d say it removed 95% of the paint (see photo). I haven’t had any issues with the USB port being too tight. This extension cable did what I wanted it to do.

I bought this to use next to my keyboard, using it with a USB fingerprint reader. It's a great size for that purpose, a bit of velcro on the bottom to keep it in place and mission accomplished.
Occasionally I'll use it for easy access to thumb drives or even USB headphones. But basically, if you need a small, sturdy USB extension that you want sitting on your desk or such, this is a great choice. ZERO issues of any kind with it, it does what it's supposed to and as long as I don't run into reliability issues (I've been using it on my primary computer for just over six months now) then I'll continue to recommend this.
