This saved our vacation!

This saved our vacation!
We camp in North Western New York outside of Erie PA. The bugs were very bad. We used the screen and the white tarp (sold separately) on an existing 10X20 shelter (that already had a silver top). It was not a perfect fit, but it worked for our purposes. It was very durable and people couldn't tell it was there and kept trying to walk though it (until we put cammo around the edges. We made adjustments to help it fit by tying nylon cord at the top and then running it to the bottom and attaching it via a nail through the center of the bottom pole (like you do with tent linings on a tent pole. On one or two poles we added additional poles near the shelter poles to attach. We also used additional tent poles laid on the ground to anchor it all around the bottom. To assist with finding the zipper we also made pom poms out of the same cord and attached to the zipper to either side. We laid a blue 20 x 30 tarp over all of it to keep the rain from coming in the sides and it trapped a lot on the insects that tried to come though the gap at the eves of the shelter. (There were hundreds between the white and blue tarp). Anyway - thumbs up and we'll use it again next year.

1.0 out of 5 stars Updated...Great addition to the yard for outside entertaining
Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2019
UPDATE:Freak snow storm out of nowhere in Illinois in early October '19 and it collapsed from a measly one,at max 1.25,inch of snow.Upon picking up the mangled frame, discovered it is VERY cheap, thin, hollow aluminum, they appear to have just snapped like a pencil. There just aren't crossbars to help brace the roof, surprised heavy rain didn't bring it down.It lasted around 5 months,Do yourself a favor and get something else.

It was easy to assemble. It took four of us less than an hour to put it up. We anchored the posts using the ropes that were included and dog tie outs, the ones you can screw into the ground. We used 1/2 cinderblocks, that we painted,to help secure the posts. Then we used plastic lattice to brace the short sides.I ordered extra ball bungee tie down cords to secure the poles to the lattice and to secure the lights. I used 3 strings of lights and I plugged them into a Dewenwils Outdoor wireless remote control outlet kit. So all I have to do is push a button and the lights are on and off. Great for the end of the night, I can go inside the house and turn them off from there. The canopy is waterproof and we have secured our shelter very well. It withstood all of the severe storms we have been having in Illinois the whole month of May. It’s a great place to hang out and storm watch, and be bug free. Under my shelter I have my stand up cooler, my swing and my patio table with 6 chairs. Lists of room.

This was easy to install. A ladder is needed for the apex on both ends, but we didn't need it for the rest of the setup. Very easy to put up. We're very happy with it; it let's us enjoy the fresh country air without being eaten alive by blackflies and mosquitoes!
