Minn Kota Freshwater Transom-Mount Motors
Get A Better Handle. Different motors feature different tiller handles, each designed to make fishing easy and comfortable. When you reach back for your transom-mount motor, you’re taking matters into your own hands. You need instant responsiveness, easy control, unyielding toughness and a reliable motor that you can count on for years. If the motor you reach for has our name on it, that’s exactly what you’ll get.
Vantage- When You Can't Wait To Fish
Patience is a virtue, especially in fishing. But why wait if you don’t have to? Vantage lets you instantly slip into backtrolling mode, quickly and responsively steer, and stow and deploy the motor at the push of a button. That’s less waiting – and more fishing. Vantage's mounting system breaks away on impact. It’s easy to reset, and protects your motor and boat transom from unseen hazards. When depth and fishing conditions change, all you have to do is push a button to raise or lower your motor.

Lever-Lock BracketLift and rotate Vantage’s directional indicator 180º, and start backtrolling right away. |
Endura ModelsRotate the lower unit 180° by moving the tiller just 45°. This allows for more steering response with less effort, and the trolling motor stays out of the way of your outboard or kicker motor for easier control. |
Digital MaximizerProvides up to 5 times longer run time on a single battery charge. These variable speed trolling motors let you dial in your exact speed, and they deliver only as much power as you need, helping to conserve your battery for a full day of fishing. |
Indestructible Composite Shaft
Pound for pound, our composite shaft is stronger than steel. It flexes on impact and won’t break, kink or corrode.
Cool, Quiet Power
Nothing runs cooler or quieter than a Minn Kota. Our extra large windings and commutators dissipate heat, resulting in cooler operation, extended battery power, and longer motor life. And our unique bearing system reduces friction to cut fish-spooking noise.
Power Prop (not shown)
With swept-back flared blades to power through anything without battery-draining chopping and hacking, the Weedless Wedge 2 is one of the most trusted props in fishing.

UPDATE 5/9/2017--I have been having trouble with this motor after a flawless late Fall fishing performance. When I took it out of my garage and put it back on my boat earlier this month, it would not work...no forward or reverse at all. I thought it might be my battery, but I have a new Interstate deep cycle that was fully charged. After wiggling the main power wire that goes into the head, it started working like usual, so I thought there must have been a loose connection. So I took it to the lake yesterday, and after about 20 minutes of usual good performance, it stopped working. Wiggling wires did not help! So now I will see if Minn-Kota stands behind its 2 year warranty when I take it to a service center later on today. I sent an email to Minn-Kota earlier in the week and have heard nothing back. I will update this post later with the results!
Telescoping handle is a good feature. I had this on a 12 ft" Fiberglass V-Hull and it pushed me around upwards 3 MPH no problem on glass to calm water. Pretty impressive for 45 lb thrust on a heavier fiberglass boat. It definitely did struggle to push me along when I was near (or in) the underwater current from the main reservoir (on my way to or from the marina) even in just light breeze conditions. I suspect a lighter aluminum boat would have done better in that circumstance, however, no trolling motor should be your main propulsion method in those circumstances anyway.
A handle with the ability to tilt upward as needed would have been a phenomenal add-on as this would be the single complaint about using this motor while Bass/Walleye fishing (constant casting, varying retrieval techniques, jigging, etc). You want to be in tight on those points and be able to retrieve your lure with proper action. However, the constant bending down to adjust the speed and/or direction of the motor -subsequently taking one hand off the rod or reel AND your eyes off the line/water- definitely became a true annoyance and undoubtedly cost me some strikes as a result of multiple "distracted" retrievals. Overall it did get me off the shore though.
Pros:
-Would be great for trolling in calm water
-Simple-as-can-be Usage
-Battery Efficient
Cons:
-The telescoping handle sitting on a horizontal plane (not able to tilt up) inhibits casting & lure retrieval technique if you're the only one operating the boat
