40 customers mention8 positive32 negative

Customers are dissatisfied with the leakage of the electromechanical gauge. They mention that the low side worked, but it leaked badly. The high side quick connect leaked while stuck in place, and moisture causes an AC system to leak. The threads leak, and the set is useless for doing a complete diagnostic on an A/C. The fittings would not seal, and there are 2 pieces of the seal.

Due to other negative reviews I thought it prudent to test the three hoses with my air compressor for “air” leaks, and while I was at it to test the gauges for accuracy prior to actually using this manifold on my car, since I might use this manifold diagnostic kit in combination with a vacuum pump. The following parts extra parts needed to connect the hoses to a quick release hose adapter on my air compressor:a) Proline Flare FL-732NL ¼ in FIP Both Ends BF-732NL 748371 (bar code) 032888189591b) Proline FL-55 ¼ in OD Comp x ¼ Fem Flare BF FL-55 748491 (bar code) 032888191044c) Plumber tape (has this part in stock – cost is not included )d) Quick release male/plug adapter with thread for insert into quick release receptacle on air hose. \ (also had this part in stock, tnotTotal of these two fitting/adapters a) & b) above was about $7.00All three hoses tested okay, a small leak, it took several minutes to notice drop in pressure gauges, three quantity pressure gauges were on the “system”, two air compressor – and device under test the manifold gauge(s).. At this point I am not concerned with the “very small” leak over several minutes since I am will assume using two air hose quick release fittings and did not use a wrench to lightly tighten down the screw threads of the manifold kit hoses. For my application I going to assume the small leaks are due to the quick release fittings, and not use a wrench lightly to tighten the flared fittings on the hoses. The reason(s) for the four star review: a) The Low (Blue) pressure gauge sticks at about 50 psi repeatedly and jump to 100 psi when the two gauges on the compressor reads at about 110 psi. The accuracy seems to be on the low side by about 10%.. b) TheHigh pressure gauge seems to be off by about 15%. I have not verified the accuracy of the two gauges on the air compressor. Will do that later by borrowing a upscale manifold diagnostic kit.I reordered another manifold diagnostic kit. The pressure gauges read with in 5% for the high side, and 10% for the low side. Both reading low. This is acceptable to me. . The low pressure gauge did not stick. The first manifold kit shall be returned. The above does explain why it is recommended only to re-charge your A/C system to within 85% to 90% of the factory recommended pressures.See pictures attached.
