From the manufacturer

Sammons Preston Compression Stocking Aid

The Sammons Preston Compression Stocking Aid is a stocking donner specifically designed to make applying tight compression socks easier. The ridges on the outside of this dressing aid prevent the sock from sliding off during application and provide a better grip on various compression materials.

This easy-to-use device is great for individuals with limited range of motion who have trouble bending to reach their feet. Simply slide the sock or stocking onto the aid, and drop the base to the floor while holding onto the attached rope. Move aid over top of foot, and pull the rope to slide the stocking up your leg.

Arrived broken and hard to use...
Hard plastic shell arrived broken. Sent back to Amazon for return. The interior surface is not smooth enough for feet to slide into socks without a powder application. Saw blade edging does not hold socks very well and actually cuts through cotton material of compression socks.Would not recommend. Other products are better.
