Product Description
This delightfully light and chewy cookie was popularized in France in the 18th century. Its reputation amongst pastry connoisseurs is that it is sophisticated yet difficult and tricky to bake. However, with this effortless Angel Bake macaron mix, you can create this desirable treat in your own kitchen..... Parisian pastry class not required.
Each package contains a one of a kind single step macaron baking mix as well as a tasty Swiss buttercream filling mix. All you need is a stand or handheld electric mixer. Just add water, mix, pipe and bake to make the macaron cookie shells(i.e. the top and bottom halves). Making the buttercream filling is just as simple. Watch the how-to video on this page to learn how simple the whole process is. No need to deal with messy egg whites, make meringue, blend and sift almond sugar mixture, or perform other tedious steps. Your macarons should be ready within 30 minutes.
You can use powdered food coloring and flavoring extracts to create colorful macarons with a variety of flavors. Try the Angel Bake powdered food coloring kit, flavoring extracts, and macaron silicone tray liners for exceptional results.
In addition to individual retail, this product is available in 6-pack, and bulk foodservice packaging, a great choice for caterers and bakers. Below are helpful hints and a few recipe ideas. Have fun baking like a pro with Angel Bake products.
Baking Instructions
Helpful Hints
- To avoid shells from sticking, use a silicone tray liner that is lightly oiled with vegetable oil.
- To oil your mat, rub a few drops of oil across its surface, then wipe dry with a paper towel.
- Measure water by weight - use a digital kitchen scale.
- To heat water to 122-130 °F, microwave cold water for 30 seconds.
- Use dairy free unsalted butter to make dairy free macarons.
Electric Handheld Mixer Instructions
- Add cookie mix and water to a deep, clean bowl.
- Whip at the slowest speed setting for 3.5 minutes.
- Use a spatula to collect batter, folding 2-3 times.
- Pipe and Bake.
- Ensure your mixing bowl is clean and free of oils.
Baking Instructions
Macaron Shells
- Empty cookie mix into mixer bowl & add food coloring.
- Add water at 122°F-130°F (see package for amount).
- Mix at low speed for 1 minute, then 3-5 minutes at medium speed.
- Pipe in 1-inch rounds. Recommend using a silicone tray liner.
- Tap tray to flatten
- Let rounds rest for 15 minutes, bake at 300°F for 15-16 minutes.
- Let cookies rest and cool down completely before handling.
Macaron Buttercream Filling
- Add 2 ounces (1/4 cup) hot water (160°F) to buttercream mix and whip on high speed until meringue is stiff and shiny (4-5 minutes).
- Whip in 1.25 sticks of room temp unsalted butter. Whip for one minute on high or until buttercream is silky and smooth. The mixture will be clumpy at first but will become smooth. Cold butter will not work.
- Food coloring and flavoring can be added at this stage. Whip for 30 seconds to incorporate.
- Use a pastry bag to place buttercream filling between the macaron shells.

Vanilla MacaronsThe mix in the package is for the traditional vanilla-flavored almond flour macaron cookie. They are delicious just like this and there is really no need to add flavoring or coloring. Macarons are perfect for special moments with friends and family. |
Flavoring & Coloring MacaronsYou can experiment with flavoring and coloring the buttercream filling. Many bakers choose to only flavor the filling and leave the macaron shells unflavored so the tasty filling can shine! For coloring either the macaron shells or the filling we recommend powdered food coloring. Get creative with your fillings! Some ideas for additions to buttercream are extracts such as rose, lavender, chocolate, almond, vanilla, or raspberry. Consider other flavorings such as matcha tea, coffee, Irish cream, Kahlua, Grand Marnier, caramel, mint, or pistachio. You might consider jam as a filling! For flavoring the macaron shells, you may add a small amount of ground nuts, coconut, coffee, and spices to the cookie batter towards the end of mixing. How about sprinkles or poppy seeds? Macarons can also be dipped in dark or white chocolate or drizzled with caramel and chocolate. The possibilities are endless. |
Resting, Maturation & ServingDid you know that macarons improve after a day or two of resting in a refrigerator or freezer? This is referred to as maturation. So plan ahead and refrigerate the filled cookies a day ahead and then serve at room temperature. It takes about 4-5 hours to defrost and return to room temp. Macarons can successfully be kept frozen for several months. Once filled and matured for a day, they will do well for a few days at room temp if they are kept covered. To get a distinct shiny-looking surface, freeze the filled macarons in a tightly covered container for a couple of days. Now you are in the know! |

Lavender MacaronsUse lavender extract and violate powdered food coloring to make lavender macarons. You can grind some edible lavender flower and mix with buttercream. |
Lemon MacaronsUse lemon extract and yellow powdered food coloring. Feel free to add lemon rind to the buttercream. Orange is exactly the same idea. |

My newbie pro-tips:
-It helped to watch several video tutorials before starting just to have a good understanding of why macarons are so finicky. Also ideally you want the finished cookies to rest for 1-2 days before serving for the best flavor.
-My oven is terribly uneven so I baked them in my Cuisinart airfryer/toaster oven. Convection for the win!
-I actually weighed the water to get grams instead of just using the measuring cup and spoon.
-After piping, I let them rest longer than 15 minutes so that the tops were dry to the touch
-Based on other reviews, I used less butter for the filling. I also had to whip it for twice the time listed on the box to actually get a good thick texture. I made two boxes of cookies but only needed one packet of frosting.
Bon chance!
